This assignment was done on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.
You will list the vitamins, state the source, the functions and the deficiency symptoms.
The vitamins and minerals to be examined are those that are directly related to the cellular respiration:We will start the chapter by doing activities that would have been done mid way through the chapter or at the end.
See home work page for assignment.
In class Activity:
Draw and Label the mitochondrion.
The details of the functions of the plasma membrane will be discussed. We will discuss the details of each protein embedded in the membrane, the function of the glycoprotein, and the function of the cholesterol.
You will create the plasma membrane and state the functions of the different components.
Photosynthesis is and example of Endergonic Reaction:
Enzymes
The project is due at the end of class, Thursday, November, 4, 2021
Cell Analogy Project.(Pictorial representation) Making analogies by comparing the functions of the following organelles to a factory, or any other organization, agency, or.......
Use only the organelles listed below. No credit will be given for organelles not included on the list.
You must draw the item you are comparing the organelles to.
In addition, list the function of the organelle and explain why you think the comparison is similar to the organelle.
Presentation Points (Appearance) 10 Points
Organelles: 1) nucleus, 2) ribosome, 3) mitochondrion
4) rough ER, 5) smooth ER, 6)cytoplasm, 7)Golgi apparatus, 8) vesicle, 9)lysosome,10) cytoskeleton,11)
plasma membrane
Study guides was posted on the high school's home work page.
There is a video link posted a few days ago. The video gives an overview of the Macromolecules.
PowerPoint Notes on the Properties of Water.
September 30, 2021
Draw the electronic configuration of each of the following elements. List the # of Protons and neutrons in the nucleus Also, draw the electron in the electron orbit.
Each of the elements listed should be placed in the correct group with the group number listed above the elements.
Lithium, Beryllium, Boron, Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Fluorine, Neon
Sodium, Magnesium, Aluminum, Sulfur, Phosphorus, Sulfur, Chlorine, Argon.
September 29, 2021
Working with the first 20 elements; List the number of protons, the number of electrons and the atomic number.
Find the atomic mass of each element and then the number of neutrons.
Notes on the electronic configuration of the electrons. Reading page 143 of the text posted in Google Classroom will give the basis of what was covered in class.
September 28, 2021
Copy chart of the nutrients needed for life from page 142 of text available in Google Classroom.
We will discuss the nutrients needed and the reason. The trace elements and the deficiency symptoms of a few will be discussed.
Introduction to the Periodic table: notes. List the first 20 elements in order.
Chapter starts on January 27, 2021.
Notes given in class. Please communicate with a class mate. The vocabulary words discussed in listed under the vocab section of this blog.
PowerPoint Notes.
If you were absent from class you can access the information from the textbook. There is a link to the book in Google Class room.
I elaborated on information from the project from last week.
Below is the information for students who were absent from class today, September 20th:
Take notes from the text for the following topics: Population, Community, Decomposers, Trophic level, Producers and Consumers
Chapter 2 Ecology Project
Day 1 Design your biome showing biotic and abiotic factors
Day 2 On a separate paper add a pyramid showing a food chain of the species in your biome. Use approximately 6 species.
Create a food web of species in your biome. Use approximately 15 species.
Assignment ended at Day 3.
Friday, September 17, 2021 - Completed Day 3 and started PowerPoint Video for details.
Video Link for an overview of Cellular Respiration. Summary of Cellular Respiration
We will start the class by reviewing material that taught during second period. The information will be necessary as we continue the study of biology. Please log into Google Classroom for additional information. The code is the same as it was for second quarter.
Please view the information in Google classroom.
Log into Google classroom page from first quarter to get the link for the Zoom meeting.
You will take notes on the plasma membrane structure and function. There are 6 types of membrane proteins embedded in the phospholipid bilayer. We will discuss the function of each of the proteins and also discuss the function of the cholesterol and carbohydrate present. (The aquaporins, water channel proteins are not shown in the image below..)
Chapter 4 Multiple choice test. Log into Google classroom to view the work done today, January 13th and the main emphasis for the test.
The 3 day cell analogy project is due by end of class on Friday, January 8th. No class time will be used tomorrow, Friday for the project.
Looking forward to having you back in the classroom.
